Layer upon Layer

Shirt - Topshop
Metallic Shorts - Topshop
Silver Pleated Skirt - Topshop
Bracelets - Topshop
Tights - H&M
Litas - Jeffrey Campbell

So pretty much almost head to toe in Topshop! The shirt, shorts and bracelets were my latest sale finds. I have only really worn this skirt once but knew immediately that the shorts were a must with it! I'm sad my polka dot tights are beginning to form a ladder too! Noooo. Sad times. Anyway, on another note, only two more sleeps till the big hen weekend in Madrid. I am not looking forward to work on Monday. Boo. I guess if I'm not suffering, then I haven't done the weekend properly! More tomorrow lovely people.

I want to ride my bicycle...

Denim Shorts - Vintage Levis
Vest - Topshop
Sunglasses - Ray Ban
Bikini Top - Topshop
Flip Flops - Havianas
Bike - Raleigh Caprice
Well, seeing as summer is fast approaching (where has this year even gone?) I thought I would do a post about my lovely bicycle. Kelly. Sadly, she is shut up in my boyfriend's parents' garage as we have no space for her in the flat since moving and we no longer have our own garden. Boo. But, I will need to bring her home VERY soon. I was looking for a nice town bike last year and saw these babies on gumtree, but as the saying goes: if you're not fast, you're last! So I missed out on them so many times. Stuff just goes too quickly on that site.

I went in to my local (at the time) second hand bike shop and asked if they would ever get the Caprice bike in. Again, I was told they go so quickly. Two days later on my walk home from work, what do I see? AAAAAH. I went straight in there and was pretty much lost for words. All I could muster was "is that...is that?!" They knew what I was talking about. "Yes it is. *cheeky grin*" So, after a few days of polishing her up, new tyres, new chain, new grips - she was mine. AND, what was even more amazing was that it was a lovely birthday gift from my lovely boyfriend <3 All I had to do was remember how to ride a bike (did I mention I broke my arms 3 times for bike related accidents?) Warning: never think you're cool cycling with no hands. You will crash into a lamp-post and fall off. And die (not really.)

Hey Ho, Lets Go!

Ramones Fringed Vest - Primark
Denim Shorts - Vintage
Aztec Oversized Cardigan - Vintage
Suede Wedges - New Look
Ankle Socks - Topshop

What a manic last week it has been. Trying to juggle work and blogging has proved to be a struggle. I'm just so exhausted when I get home that all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep. Anyway, I thought it was about time that I invested in some fringing! Since my last purchase was the kimono, I decided to mix it up with a vest. On another note, I braved my local Topshop sale (it was almost closing and no people) and got some little bargains which I will show you soon. On Saturday, I went up to China town and stopped off at Topshop in Oxford Circus. BIG mistake. I should have just waited as they had MUCH more to offer. I only ended up spending 15 pound though and got two pairs of interesting shorts! When I say interesting...wait till you see them. They're pretty special. I'm off on my friend's hen do to Madrid this weekend so hopefully I'll have some interesting snaps to show you when I get back! Until then, more tomorrow (hopefully, if I don't fall asleep.)

DIY: Bleached to Tie Dye Shirt

First things first. Apologies for the lack of posting the last few days. The end of the week has been very hectic and being back to work after two weeks off has been a real kick to the system. Anyway, I thought I would have a go at turning an old unwanted shirt into something a little bit more special. I wasn't thinking about posting this at the time so unfortunately I don't have a picture of the old denim shirt before. Damn. But here is what you will need:

DYLON Salt, and a variety of colours of DYLON fabric dye (depending on the kind of look you want.) For the shirt I used Flamingo Pink and Bahama Blue (I never ended up using the intense violet because we all know pink and blue makes purple!)
Okay, so take any old unwanted denim shirt and any bottle of household bleach (I used your average toilet bleach!) Fill up a basin with warm water and a LOT of bleach. I think I may have got a little carried away and pretty much squeezed half the bottle in. WARNING: Open the windows! The smell is very overpowering. After a few hours you will see the bleach start to work, some parts will go whiter than others so I kind of had a patchy look at first but I left it overnight and awoke to find my shirt like this. It was more of a yellowy colour rather than white but that was perfect because I knew I'd be splashing it with colour anyway. I just needed it bright enough to hold the colour.
So, now you have your shirt, I will TRY and explain how mine ended up as it did. Again, I didn't take any pictures as I was doing it (probably the excitement!!) so I will show you how with the shirt as it ended up. First of all, lay the shirt out flat. Then you want to grab the middle of the shirt and twist it in an upward circle motion until the whole shirt has twisted into a spiral.
Get an elastic band (I didn't have any lying around so used a headband) and use this to hold the shirt in place.
If you turn the ball over it should look like a spiral!
Now for the messy bit! Follow the instructions on the back of the dylon packet. I put the whole shirt into the basin with the flamingo pink colour first and left it for 45 minutes. Rinsed any excess colour off under cold water and then filled up the basin with the bahama blue colour. I dipped HALF of the shirt in and left it for 45 minutes. Make sure that the shirt won't fall over in the basin, it needs to be upright and steady. Rinse the blue off (which will now be purple) and then untie and TA DA!! You have a tie dyed shirt.

What I loved about this was the fact that the blue obviously got into places that were still bleach which is how you end up with three colours. All in all, a pretty fun evening! I was really impressed with the finished outcome because it kind of looks like trees. Pretty cool. Anyway, hope you find this useful, I highly recommend just bleaching and dying your unwanted clothes to turn them into something a little bit more unique.

Another reminder if you haven't entered the 100 followers GIVEAWAY you can still do so by clicking here as I will be choosing a winner tomorrow. Good luck!!

Bibbidy-Bobbidy-Boo!

When I went back home to Edinburgh last week, I had a snoop around my wardrobe to see if I could find any goodies. I found about 6 pairs of converse (red, blue, white, pink, yellow, orange) and don't really know what to do with them. I'm such a hoarder when it comes to clothes and accessories - actually pretty much everything. I just can't bring myself to throw stuff away. I'm sure my mum will get fed up and chuck them soon. Sigh. Anyway, I came across these babies. Brand new in box and never been worn. Stuart Weitzman jelly see-through sandals with silver rhinestones!! I remember sweating through my childhood in my fluorescent pink jelly shoes every summer - but they were nothing compared to these (which is why I bought them). Sadly, however, I just never wore them. I don't even know why. Probably because they were too pretty. So they are still in Edinburgh. Living in a box. Maybe they will get to go to the ball one day hey?

One Man's Junk...

Top - Vintage
Disco Pants - American Apparel
Heart Necklace - eBay
Ankle Socks - Topshop
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell

...is another man's treasure! And that's what this top is. Yet another one of my finds in the charity shop. Oooh how I do enjoy I good rummage. I've been wearing too many shirts lately buttoned all the way up, so I was a little bit hesitant about the neckline on this baby BUT I actually quite like it! Please ignore my absolutely WRECKED litas :( I literally wear them all the time and this is the price I have to pay. Sigh. Thanks to all of you that entered that GIVEAWAY! I've really enjoyed reading your comments. If you haven't entered and would like to, you can do so by clicking here. More tomorrow!

If the fish swam out of the ocean...

Shirt - Vintage
Tights - Topshop
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Hat - Topshop

This was fun! I decided I would actually try and make an effort with my make up in this post. I do tend to wear make-up when I go out but it's kind of calmed down a lot over the years. However, as soon as I put on this hat and the black and white theme of the outfit, I was somewhat reminded of A Clockwork Orange. So, I decided to experiment with my lashes and took my beloved Rimmel liquid eyeliner and drew them on! It was fun! I was worried about not getting them all the same length etc, but to be honest I could barely get them in a straight line but you can't even notice. Oooh I think I might have to do this all the time - I kinda like it! Anyway, how awesome is this shirt? It's a size 18, (I just can't wear tight fitting shirts) so it was a perfect find in the charity shop and at only £3.50. Loves a bargain. OH and now that I have reached 100 followers, I'm working on putting a little goody bag for one of you lovely people to win. Exciting! More tomorrow.

Did my heart love till now?

Velvet Top - Topshop
Metallic Gold Midi Skirt - Topshop
Shoes - New Look

It's been such a busy week going back home, and coming back to London today, I feel so stressed and that time seems to be running away from me! Cramped and squashed on the train for four and a half hours watching re-runs of Sex and the City. In hindsight, this may not have been such a good idea - the man next to be probably thought I was some kind of sex maniac. I can't help what Samantha does sir, I'm sorry!! But I am finally home. Aaaaand relax. This outfit kind of makes me feel half christmassy and half Elizabethan (hence the little picture of Queen Elizabeth). I love the velvety texture, I could literally sit and stroke it all day. But that would be weird. So I'll just post this for you instead. More tomorrow!

Festival Fever

Shirt - Topshop
Shorts - Topshop
Sneakers - Converse
Khaki Socks - H&M
Hat - Urban Outfitters
Bag - Vintage
Rings - Topshop
Seeing as I won't be able to make any festivals this year, I thought I would do a festival inspired post - just to make myself feel better about not being able to go. It's raining here in Edinburgh but I am going to brave the weather and hit the high street and see what they have to offer. I'm also going to hit the old town and hopefully (fingers crossed) my favourite vintage shop is still there!! More tomorrow.
